TheLilac Hybiscus
and the cat -
Magunghwa

Many of my cats are given Korean names
as my youngest son lives and works in South Korea
so I have often asked him what certain things mean in Korean.
The cat at the top left hand side of each page
is a lilac tortie.
She was bred by me, but is owned by
Charon Scheepers from MoonCatz.
Charon's favorite colors are lilac and purple,
(even her house is painted with those colors inside and out)
so we tried to find a name to suit the cat.
The Korean national flower is a lilac hybiscus
- known as Magunghwa
and when translated means
'The Rose of Charon' -
seems like we found the perfect name??!

Welcome to
my cat world!
I have had cats all my life
even having one in my cot as a new born baby.
Growing up, we always had a few cats and one day
my mother was given a Siamese X something.
He looked nothing like a Siamese,
more like a tabby,
but he knew he was Siamese!!!
He had a Siamese meow
and the purrrrsonality to go with it.
He slept on my bed each night and
during the day while I was at school,
but he knew when it was time for me to come home and
then I would find him waiting on the gate pillar for me.
He would jump onto my shoulder and
we would walk down to the house together.
He lived for 20 years and
by this time I was hooked on the idea of one day
owning at least one (or more) Siamese.
After I got married, I still had cats so my children also grew
up with furry, cuddly creatures to take to bed with them.
Once the children had grown, I decided
it was time
to be owned by a few Siamese!!
I started with 2 neutered boys, but unknown to me,
they had their own fair share of problems and
so they did not live very long.
After that, I was encouraged to try my hand at breeding.
I bought 2 girls and used another breeder's stud
for the first few matings, but soon after that,
I was contacted by a lady who had a blue stud
that was in need of a home
as she and her family were immigrating.
I took the boy and he produced many fine kittens.
A few years later, I was offered a cream stud
also for the same reason - owner immigrating.
I had always wanted a cream or red
so I jumped at the opportunity.
This was
Supreme Champion
Mi-a My Credo.
He produced some magnificent kittens
who have done really well on the show bench.
You will see some of their pictures in the gallery sections
of my website.
Unfortunately, Credo was put to sleep at the age of 10
due to throat cancer.
Thanks to some wonderful friends,
I still have Siamese
- a red stud by the name of
Champion
La Montanara Cavour
or Cavvy as he is fondly known,
given to me by Heidi Hoffman
and a beautiful chocolate girl,
Grand Champion
Siamlove Aero of Catkin
- the absolute love of my life -
from Elizabeth van Renen.
Aero or Chocie/Chocie-wockie-doo
is now a spayed lady, but she is still mother to any baby
that comes along be they furry or non furry -
see pics of her and her adopted children in the picture gallery.
I have also included some ofAero's own kittens
who are adults now.
I have a young red point Siamese lady,
Grand Champion
Scarlet O' Harah
daughter of Credo and Saharah.
Then there is
Champion
Catkin Twilight-Mist
or Misty to us, who is a blue tortie.
Misty is from Credo and Aero.
